Little Rascals...

Was slacking my time through infront of the TV.. then suddenly thought of a line in the movie years back..... Cute show! one of my favourite.

Do you know that Little Rascals was filmed during the America's Great Depression. According to President Hoover and other political pundits, saccharine optimism is what the country needed. They believed that Hollywood machines and print media could lift spirits by painting a rosier picture and the country could start walking down the road to recovery.

The creator of the "Our Gang" (later renamed as Little Rascals) series Hal Roach, made thousands of dollars from the exploits of children, literally and figuratively on screen. These "rascals" never stopped having fun and in their adventures impart to the audience the fun that can be had with no money. Hoover was right - a little laugh did USA good and help to cover up the reality of many children in the Great Depression.
